God I cant stand the way they manhandle their eggs when they cut. I couldn't even finish the vid. Please tell me he didnt yank them out of the eggs like in there last vid. I drive past prehistoric pets everyday on the way to and from work and they by far have some of the worst husbandry ever. Everything in there is sick or dying and most of their larger burms and tics are donations from people whom had to give up their animals. I highly doubt they could raise an animal from baby to adult.

I had no idea they were that bad...I used to look at pics of their store and wish I could visit, but now I won't bother to. I couldn't finish the video either, that poor thing, its first experiance in life is being ripped out of its egg...very sad.

You know, that guy posts these same type of videos every year. And every year people complain about how rough he's handling his snakes and how they don't know how those poor things can survive and what a horrible person he must be. But the point is, his technique hasn't changed in YEARS and he's still doing it that way, so obviously it must work for him.

I know from personal experience that if I were to handle corn snake eggs that way, they'd just die. No ifs, ands or buts... my experience is if you cut a vein on colubrid eggs they just die. On the other hand, ball pythons are a lot tougher and hardier. If I accidentally cut a vein on a ball egg, it really doesn't seem to affect them that much if at all. I do NOT handle my ball eggs roughly, I just don't feel right about it, but they're my eggs and I can handle them how I want. I know others, even some big names, who have pulled the babies out of their eggs yolk and all, check the sex, then stuff them back in the eggs again and they eventually still come out fine. Again, not something I'd feel comfortable doing, but if it works for them then who am I to argue?

I'm not ever likely to hatch retics. I'm not ever likely to HAVE retics, I just don't have any interest. So I really don't feel I'm qualified to say that what he is doing is either right or wrong. Sure, it looks rough to me, but I would imagine that retics are a lot tougher then even ball pythons. But then again I don't have any experience with retic eggs so what do I know? Apparently it works for him and they're his eggs. He can do with them whatever he wants, it apparently has no lasting effect on the babies.
