Detailed mice breeding help?
To start, I have googled all this, tons of research, but honestly, Im a blond who needs more specific info to myself. Anyone care to help? I know ya'll prolly get asked these questions tons of times, so I really do appreciate any help you can give me!
Our BP Charlotte is 2ft long and needs to eat 2 mice every 5-7 days. Right now we have 2 of the SAM Down Under cages, 1 momma mouse and 7 babies 6 days old, In one of the cages. How many mice do you think I need to get a good amount for my baby? Do I need to rotate cages, and how exactly? Its all very confusing to me! Absolutely any help is good, cause Im so lost on the rotating thing. grrrrr! Thanks!

I was in the same situation and i just bread for the fun of it i have a 1.2 set up. if you can get 2 females to sucessfully reproduce constantly that will be all you need. my girl birth 14 and 9 made it her first time going on her 3 litter it will take about 4 to 6 weeks for them to get at a good size for them to be food so you will still be buying food. i seperated her just before birth but you can leave the set up together unless babies start getting ate.
that set up should allow you to feed 3 at a time depending on size!!!
good luck...
tip put vinilla in the water smells get crazy!

I love it! No seriously, i would think you would only need 1.1 or 1.2. 1 producing female will give you at least 10 babies a month, which is about what you need. Really, I would not try to discourage you from breeding them (because I actually enjoy it), but for only 2 mice per week, I would ask myself is it worth the trouble?

I agree, probably not worth all the hassle for one snake, unless you need to feed live of course.
you can use 1.1 and keep all the babies, grow them on, use 2 to replace t parents, kill the rest and parents.. that will give you say 10 adults..
just do this every 2 months or so..
that will give you say 10 mice then for an 8 week period, should give you enough without over doing it. if you have any friends local who need mice, yu could always breed a little extra and sell them, that would pay for the costs of doing it too... not much work at all in just 2 or 3 cages.

How long does it take to get a mouse from pinkie up to a nice feeder size of about 30g or more? During that time the OP would need to keep buying mice, but it would only be for a month or so I would suspect.

probably 10 weeks to get a 30 grammer, they will obviously breed from a lot smaller.

We tried breeding mice for a little while and found the stink disgusting. Get yourself some ASF's they are really easy and barely stink. You don't have to seperate the babies from anyone, just put em together in a 1.2 or whatever and let em do there thing. Clean there cage once a week you'll never ever notice they are there.
