Re: What could this be...... DUW long post

I agree the box looks "unprofessional", but on the other hand, what is wrong with reusing a box? In the long run, I would think it is better for everyone, less costs, less junk in a land fill, less resources used up the make a new one, etc.

I won't comment on the receipt, because on my monitor it is a little too small to see what it says.

The pied is awesome. I love low-white pieds.

I agree, as long as the box is structurally sound, then I don't see any reason not to reuse it. I have reused boxes to ship. It is better on the environment.

I too have re-used boxes. But not Sharpied to hell, and corners falling apart.

Its one thing to be "thrifty" and re-use a NICE snake box.

Its another thing to scribble the box to death and pray that the corners dont bust in transit.

I agree with the point about the scribbling.

To me, the box did not look so bad that "praying that the corners don't bust in transit" would be necessary. That's a matter of opinion, and I'm happy to agree to disagree on this point. The way I looked at it is, yes there is some damage, but we also don't know if that damage was there when the shipper sent it out, or if it occurred during transit. I have boxes that I have reused over and over every time I moved since I was in college many years ago, and their corners look WAY worse than that, but they still hold & protect my stuff just fine. So I would expect that even if this box was used another time, it would be ok structurally.

I definitely agree that a box that is badly beat up such that its structural integrity is compromised should not be used, and a higher standard should apply to boxes for live animals that will be shipped and out of your hands as opposed to moving boxes that only carry stuff and you will be moving them yourself.

I'm glad to see that for most people it wasn't the re-use of the box that was questionable, just the condition of this specific box.
