This place is only 10 mins away from my house and I never knew the amount of herps that were down there.
It's called Ad****s Reservoir, ask your relatives about it!
That's where I'd go when I lived in Houston! Best field herping to be had in the area, great for evening walks. I lived near I-10 and hwy 6 throughout high school, probably not too far from where you are?
Plenty of trails to hike. During the right times of the year you'll see more copperheads and cottonmouths than you know what to do with, so be careful out there and watch where you step
I found they just love to sun themselves right on the walking paths.

to icygirl: another location to look into is brazos bend state park, it also has some pretty neat stuff. It's fairly likely you'll run into something interesting.

Yeah that's awesome, I live on Eldridge!
About the copperheads... where did you find them and at what time of year and day?
I've been looking for one for a long time, so as much info as possible would be great!

See, Brazos Bend hasn't been good for the past few years. Usually I'd see 2-3 snakes in a whole day, but lately I haven't seen any. I mean, yesterday I was in Ad****s Reservoir and found over 20 snakes in 4 hours...
