DIY fruit fly cultures??
I bought a fruit fly culture a month ago or so and it's doing well. i'm hoping to start a new colony this week. I found a few differant culture starters but I really want to know which one works best?? Any one do this themself??

my buddy is big into breeding chams, so hes got his own little home made recipe. ill see if hes willing to let it out of the bag

That would be great. So far I have the small fruitflies bet going to get the big one's soon even though they breed slower.

I used to breed them for my bettas, and just used baby rice cereal mixed with some baby fruit puree from the little jars. They did just fine on it. It was messier, and they took a bit more effort to collect but it was cheaper.

Peter Merten at Chicago Dart Frogs makes the best mix I've ever used, and I've tried quite a few. Fly production was amazing with his stuff.

I think I'm going to try a few diff ones to see which one works best. I really want to do wax worms too.Thanks for the tips
