Help with humidity

Ok i got my new bedding a few days ago ( eco earth and forest bedding) i mixed the two. well anyways the humidity settles at 39% and i know it should be higher, exspecialy when my snake is shedding. I heard that if you put a live plant in the cage it will raise the humidity level, well is that true??? If so what kind of plant should I get???

What are you using for an enclosure? Tank? Tub? etc.

I am using a 40 gallon breeder tank

You can cover most of the top with foil, which will help trap the humidity. If that doesn't help, you could switch to cypress mulch, which is one of the best types of substrate to increase humidity. You may also need to mist either every day or every other day.

I wouldn't put a live plant in there. Ive heard that they can house little bugs/parasites.

T-Rex Cypress Blend increased humidity for me. Also added a bowl of damp spaghnum moss. Covered 3/4 of the top screen with tin foil and replaced the water bowl container from the Exo-Terra Rock Bowl to the Repti-Rock bowl and put the bowl half-way on top of the UTH.

I like all the suggestions above for your lid. That will help with humidity. Also, you may find you will need to mist.

live plants are not normally a health issue. but they will get trampled because they will climb on them.

parasites and bug from plant life are specific to them so no worries about infect your BP.
