We've been using similar bowls for our younger snakes, and they work well as both water and hide. As the snakes get older, though, trying to hide under the bowl presses it against the roof of the rack, pressing the edge of the bowl into the snakes' backbones. At that point, we've been switching to crock type bowls, with the two considerations in mind being (a) can the snake soak if she wants? and (b) is the top edge of the bowl far enough from the top of the rack to allow the snake access to the water?

Your bowl looks suitable to me, from the photo.

I try to match the size of the water bowl to the humidity needed in the tub.

The size is ok some people like smaller bowls some like smaller ones (I do ) the only thing with those is that sometimes the snake gets under it and then tip it over, no big deal just a big mess.

It is really hard to prevent them from tipping their water dish (sometimes it seems that it is all they have in mind ) knock on wood so far the dishes I have been using have never been tipped………….I use those http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store....p-flypage-9736
