Live feeder storage of different types

Is it ok to store mice with rats?

Reason being since i got my RTB it would be easier if i could store its fuzzies and my BP's rats together. i just need to know if im looking for trouble doing this. I plan to switch the rtb over to rat pinkies but i want her to eat a few times for me on what she is used to first.

    Live? Rats will kill mice.

Ditto. Sometimes you can get away with it, but it isn't something that is common among the whole species.

I think we are talking frozen..in which case, there are two potential way for it to go really well or really badly.

Your boa will probably eat whatever you put in front of it, most boas do. Your BP's however may imprint on something you are not even feeding them if they smell like it from in the bag. If you have them on rats, but those rats smell like mice...they might not take a rat without the mouse smell eventually. I think the risk is low, but worth mentioning. Also, your bp's might not even take them if they smell like mice.

A potentially good outcome is your bp's are desensitized to the smell of their prey and will readily switch between rats and mice more easily.

nope, we are talking live. Thankfully my BP is a garbage disposal and eats both no questions. though he will take a rat faster. the mouse he usual stalks longer, where the rat he eats it before it even hits the substrate.

I had no idea domesticated rats and mice were still prone too killing each other.

thanks guys and gals. I will store them separately. I only buy a couple at a time, so i thought maybe i could swing it.
