hybrid hots...
so i came across a website showing pictures of hybrid hots such as...
Copperhead x Cottonmouth
Rhino viper x Gaboon viper
Gaboon viper x Puff adder
and this got me thinking if anyone had studied the toxicity of the venom to see what if any changes had acccured. what do you do if you get bit by a Gambino or Cottenhead? well i found nothing online and was wondering if the hot keepers had any input. thanks this has been bugging me all day lol

Re: hybrid hots...
I'm not sure about the Bitis species, but all Crotalid bites are treated with the same antivenom. I believe the venom of the Western Diamondback, Mojave, Cottonmouth, and Eastern Diamondback is used to make this serum called Crofab.
I believe they used a different serum before, and they might still use it sometimes.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same deal with the african vipers.

Any time.
One more thing to add to it. I think there's only one antivenom for ALL species of sea snake. You might only need a few vials for one species of sea snake and more than fifty for the other to survive.
Theoretically, if you get a 6ft sea snake chomping down on your hand, you die. The different sea snake venoms are similar, to a certain extent. The enzymes that are in the antivenom will do a better job at breaking down the enzymes and toxins in the actual venom of one snake as opposed to another snake's venom.
Hope that made sense.

Re: hybrid hots...
there is actually a couple "general"anti's,used for species with no made anti's,or where it can be used as a broad sweep of species more to slow down the venom until the actual anti gets there
