You need a license? In South Africa we can get any venomous snake (as long as its not a local snake) without any license what so ever, I saw a 19 year old walk out with a fully grown female gaboon viper at our reptile show yesterday.
Those snakes are very pretty they have almost a leucistic look to them.

you dont need a permit in all states in live in pa and keep venomous and do not need a permit,
captian you said you dont need a permit there as long as its not a local snake? by local do you mean native? if so wouldnt the gaboon fall under native to africa.

Africa is a continent. A rather large one. And is made up of many separate countries. South Africa is one of those countries. Typically a "no native species" law involves species native to that country and not the entire continent it is located on.

..and why is it a bad thing that idiots are getting themselves killed?
I worry more about the idiots harming others due to their careless actions.. Either way, I don't think just ANYONE should own hots. I admire them but they aren't for me. Sweet Cobras!

cobras are pretty awsome. a friend of mine has 4. one of which pops her head up, hoods and takes a peak at you from the back of the cage and then drops back down again. her cage is a mess. she pushes the paper everywhere. he tells me that most cobras make messes of their cages.
the albino ones are awsome!! they are available every now and then on kingsnake.
