    Problem with Helix Thermostat

    Hi Everyone,

I've had my Helix running on my enclosure for 5 months now and had no issues until last night. I noticed the "red" check system light was on and then noticed that my accurites registered a 100 degree temp at some point during that day - needless to say I paniced.

It was late in the evening and I couldn't reach the mfg to ask them about it - I do have the instructions sheet for troubleshooting but it wasn't much help. The error code I got was EE-E3, can anyone help out with this.

I lowered my temp setting on the Helix to avoid it overheating my snake enclosure again thru the night - I managed to get the temp to stay at 90 hot side/80 cool side but am very concerned about this error message. I even unplugged the unit and reset everything but the "red" error message stays on.

    Please help!!!!

    Thanks.

    Re: Problem with Helix Thermostat

Give Jeff a call. He will be able to help out. My guess would be that if you unplugged the thermostat, and reset the temperature, and the light is still on, there is a malfunction in your t-stat. When I get that code, it is usually because the electricity flickered. When it happens, you will sometimes get a temperature spike like you noted. However, it usually a very short time period on the temp spike, and it never actually warms up the tub more than 1 or 2 degrees. However, after the error code, I can usually just hit the reset button, and I have no further problems.

    I hope that helps,

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I am trying to call Jeff but since they are in CA - all I get is voicemail. I will try again later.

Did you check your probe, did it come loose? Didn't mention the probe in your post so you might want to double check it just incase if you haven't.

    Re: Problem with Helix Thermostat

I currently have my probe taped to the bottom of the tank - it sits on top of the brown craft paper that I use for bedding - is this okay. It is directly on the bottom of the RBI cage underneath the RHP.

    Thanks.

I think the E3 code is for your electricity flickering. I pm'd you about the probe placement

    Re: Problem with Helix Thermostat

Hi Starmom, Yes I talked to Jeff from Helix and that is what he said about the power flickering or something. I don't have a NightTemp feature on my Helix so he is sending me some part to install so when/if this happens again I can handle it.

    Thanks.
