    Re: Hognose questions

I unfortunately do not have a photo of my Hogger's enclosure, but I can give you the details. The terrarium is 30", 12", 12" with crushed english walnut shells for bedding. There is a hot side, with a lamp and a UTH to keep it hot, and also a cold side, with no equipment on it to keep it that way. Both sides have a hide and the water bowl is on the cold side (remember to put it there and not anywhere else).

You have read that I used a 20 gallon tank, but a 10 gallon would work just as well.

    My snakes:
0.1 Kenyan Sand Boa ~Nephthys~ (aka "Linky")

    In a better place:
    1.0 Pastel Western Hognose ~Charon~ 10/3/07-4/24/09

If you need/want to know anything about Hognose snakes, just ask me.

    Re: Hognose questions

    Here's my set-up:

Sorry, the snake is hiding in this picture so you can't see him.

It's a 10 gallon with walnut shell substrate, UTH, and a low-wattage ceramic lamp (it's on a dimmer) just to give a photoperiod. Lamp stays on 12 hours and off 12 hours. All the "decoration" items came in a desert theme box from PetSmart. I think it was around $45. All I had to add was the water bowl.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

    Re: Hognose questions

wouldnt mind doing it but, shipipng would make you probably pay more then you want. plus id rather it be a local pickup due to the fact i dont really have any knowledge in shipping a live animal.

Yeah, their short stubby body and smiling face does it...
It still trips me out when they strike at you with a pointy snout.
    Feels like a pencil point.
