Redfoot Tortoise - Experts??
Anyone who knows tortoise, please view the below picture, and let me know how Flash the redfoot tortoise looks. Is this the beginning of pyramiding? Does he look okay?
This is not my tortoise, I originally got him for someone, who never cared for him(despite begging for it!!) and then left, abandoning him, so I gave him to a new family. They have even planned who gets him when Mom is gone! I know they want to be sure he's a healthy tort!
Thank you in advance!

Re: Redfoot Tortoise - Experts??
It's been a while since I kept any babies but I have kept them and he looks ok.
They do like fruit more than greens though.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

Re: Redfoot Tortoise - Experts??
They feed him fruit, greens and tortoise food. (they take better care of him than I did even!). I'm just wanting ot be SURE before he gets in a bad state.. then I'll feel horrible because I don't know enough to "see" a problem before it gets bad.
Thanks Wilomn!

Re: Redfoot Tortoise - Experts??
I agree, he looks good. Nothing out of the ordinary with his shell and if the diet stays good there shouldn't be any worry of pyramiding even after the fact.
There is one large growth ring, and that may make it seem like a slight pyramiding, as well.
Of all the tyrannies a tyranny executed for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. for it may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busibodies. For a robber baron's cruelty may cease; his cupidity may at some poitn be sadiated. But those who torment us for out own good do so without ceasing because they do so with the approval of their conscience. ~C.S. Lewis

Thanks so much! Like I said, I don't know much about tortoises, much less redfoot tortoises.

Looks fine to me, just make sure whoever has the tort that they give it a humid place to hide (I just spray inside their hide box on diet days) to help prevent pyramiding.
