    Where to feed?

I was told that you should take your snake out of its enclosure to feed it so it doesnt think your hand is food when you reach in to handle it. Any truth in that? If he is removed to eat how long should you wait to put him back in his normal tank?

    Re: Where to feed?

Nope, no truth to that at all. The same argument can be made that if you move the snake to a separate feeding enclosure, that they will associate moving to a separate feeding enclosure to being fed and be more likely to mistake you for food then as well.

I feed all of mine in their own enclosures, and I've never had one mistake me for food. I go into their enclosure multiple times during the week, so they have no reason to associate my being in their enclosure as feeding time.

I feed in their enclosures as well. I've never had an issue, even when I had 30 or so pet rats in the room.

    Re: Where to feed?

I used to do that, feeding in a seperate container. Simply because thats what I was told yeeears ago. I did it for years, until I got to a point that I have 50+ snakes, the simple time factor made me stop.

I cant really say that theres been a difference. I have 2 mean ball Pythons that doesnt matter what they are in, they are grumpy and could strike(ironically got them both from the same guy and a few others that werent healthy, they werent taken care of properly). I feed in their cages now, and I havent noticed a change in any of my snakes.

But do what YOU think is right, and what works for YOU.....and good luck

I feed mine in their enclosures too...
I used to way back in the day, feed in separate tubs with my RTB's, but that was old skool teaching from the person I was raising them with...For the last 20 years I've been feeding all my snakes in their cages and none have thought my hand or finger was a cute fuzzy mouse, but then again, I don't have gorilla hands either...
