i live in the city so yea no feed store around here, nearest thing that carries mazuri is 17 miles, but be worth the drive if its any where near 24 bucks for 50 lbs...im paying 7 bucks for 4 right now.

Re: where to buy food and bedding?

Well, there might be a supplier in my town for both food and bedding...but it does me no good. I can't drive and they won't/can't ship or deliver.

Therefore, I'm stuck getting the rodent aspen from Petsmart (tho I'm thinking of starting to mix aspen and good pine to save money) as well as the Mazuri. The block there is 2lb for @$7.

I just finished a detailed price comparison of keeping rodents vs buying all the time and wow. Never knew I spent that much on rodents! The frozen that I get cost more than the supplies for keeping live...hence the decision to try a trio of rats as well as mice.
In the end, we decided to go half-and-half - in other words, I'm pruning down my mice colony to 2 1.1 pairs and will keep the rat trio, but won't get rid of all the rodents. This way, I'm not spending as much on food and bedding and will just supplement fresh rodents whenever needed...at least, that's the plan.

The guy keeps hundreds of bags in stock so I never have to worry about ordering them or if he is out of stock its awesome!

He has regular pine shavings and lab grade pine shavings and I cant tell a difference in them. What does others use, regular or lab grade pine shavings?
