where to buy food and bedding?

where do you guys buy your rodent food and bedding, cheapest rat block at the local pet store is 7 bucks for 4 pounds. i think everyones goal is to produce rodents as healthy and cheaply as possible, what do you guys do? order somewhere online or buy something local?

edit: wow totally missed food mix list up there in the sticky, is that what most people make up?

I bought lab block from the local feed store, they special ordered it for me. Some feed stores will either carry it, or order it if you're nice to them. The bedding I usually picked up at either Tractor Supply, or Petsmart(cheapest places to buy it, since my wal-marts stopped carrying aspen, and only have pine or cedar).

Re: where to buy food and bedding?

I buy almost all of my stuff from a feed store. 50# of Mazuri 6f or 9f is 25 bucks, pine pellets are 6 bucks for 40#, aspen is ~10 for 4.0 cubic feet, and pine...I cannot remember, but I don't think their pine is the type of pine I want to try.

Feed stores are stores where you get feeds for various animals (cows, pig, horses etc) among other things.

To find a feed store that carries Mazuri use the Mazuri dealer locator https://www.mazuri.com/Home.asp?Products=2

Re: where to buy food and bedding?

At your local feed stores! I get pine pellets, and compressed 7.5 cubic feet of pine shavings for 5.99 a bag, and the mazuri rodent diet is about 23$

I get my food from a Purina dealer pet store, and my bedding supplies from TSC.
