My injured 3356g girl, opinions please!

This is my female BP who weighed in at 3356g at the vet. I am currently giving her Baytril orally (which is not fun). Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? FYI: She tried to stike at a rat and hit the tub the next day this started happening. The vet said the inside of her mouth looked excellent and it is definately not mouth rot. Mybe the rat scratched her mouth but the vet said he didn't see anything. Could it maybe be a tumor? Seems strange it happened so fast? Her stomach is opaque because she is/was going into shed. Opinions please!!!

Imagine running face first into a wall. You said she struck and hit the tank, it looks to be blunt force trauma & swelling, keep a watchful eye for any new symptoms or increase in swelling after 3 days

Grrrrrrr Your going to have to click the thumbnail to see a bigger pic. I am still trying to figure out how to post a picture correctly. I have read the tutorial but I am still doing it wrong. I will figure it out sooner or later.

The vet said he didn't feel any broken bones or anything. I am praying that it is just swelling and not something bad.

You posted the pics fine, if your vet has already checked her over please keep in mind we can only tell you what we think might have happened from previous experience or reasonable deduction.

Lisa has a point, although that is a large lump. My male was purchased with mouth rot, and a likely unrelated lump on his chin about half that size. The day before I got him to the vet the lump disappeared, the vet thought it could have been due to a mild injury or irritation that had filled with fluid.

All in all, trust your vet and just keep an eye on him. We can try to help you come up with ideas as to why the lump is there but that won't change the fact that you are doing all that you can already.

Find a vet that does x-rays, instead of feeling to determine if the jaw is broken.

Could have punctured herself with a tooth or broken one. If some time has passed since she did that then there is a chance she may have an abscess.

I would wait for a few days to see if it has gone down. If not then I would take her back in and see if they could do some xrays.

    BTW I love the tattoo!
