    herp collection numbering??

    ok, so I know this is a dumb question.... but why do the numbers mean next to peoples' herp collections. Like a lot of poeple put things like 1.5 ball python, 2.0 leopard geckoes. 0.1 dog. How the hell can you have one tenth of a dog???!!!!!!! I have seen this on every herp site for years and never understood what it meant.

    The first number is males, 2nd is females and 3rd is unknown

    soooo 1.2.5 would be

    1 male
    2 females
    5 unknown
