Dubias, they do not breed as fast, but grow bigger( born bigger) and do not climb!

Thats what I thought they were... I thought they looked familiar

Dubias are my other colony....I think I will feed them all off since they are such slow breeders. I just wish the lobsters didn't climb

    I'm running out of vaseline

Id take slow breeders over lobsters any day, no point in having feeders that just climb up any part of the tank when you put them in there.

I built an egg crate box and they really dont come out of there at least not that i have seen - plus I have vaseline around the top 6 inches of the tub

    Re: New Pets

I have hissers and love them. They are slow to reproduce and get large, but they grow faster than I thought they would. In terms of our various critters that eat them - leopard gecko gets smallish ones (vaseline around the top of her tank, too), box turtle will get some pre-killed in his bowl one day when I have more, blue tongue skink gets small to medium ones (vaseline around the top of her tank, too), pygmy hedgehog gets them handed to her live with tongs.

I saw a white one that had just shed its exoskeleton - very cool looking. Too bad I waited 2 hours to get the camera. By then, it was brown already!

    We have mealworms, too.

Insect feeders are more fun than I ever thought they would be!

How big do Dubias get? Do they fly? Or are the adult wings "false wings"? I'm not even sure I can handle fluttering. Getting hissers was already a stretch since I'm roach-phobic. But I've made a lot of progress.
