Re: Hello, new to forum and world of snakes
Welcome and Congrats on overcoming your fear! That is an awesome way to get into snakes!
A red tailed boa was my first experience with an exotic (in 1982 that was pretty exotic ) snake. My best friend got one as a pet and had this beautiful terrarium in his room. I thought it was Da Bomb!
Way to go on the Burmese!!

Hola! Welcome! It's awesome that you're trying to get over your fears! Some of my friends won't even get near the tanks, even though they are secure.
As far as the snakes not escaping, I use metal clips that hold the screen on tight. Not sure exactly what they're called but I got some at petco and also at a place called petland. They hold on tight, you can also bend them a little to get them to fit very very tight.

I really wanted to get closer than I've ever been to snakes and I am glad that I actually did go through with it. I really didn't want to though. I was dreading seeing them but when they were there I just had to. I didn't chicken out. Now when I go to the pet store I stop by the snake tanks and look at them.
I didn't realize how many different snakes there were until I went and checked them out. So many different color options, and sizes. It's kind of overwhelming. How do you know what type of snake to get? Do you try to take them out and handle them? In the future I would much rather get one from someone who needs to rehome it or something. I'm not sure yet though. Still a lot to think about.
Thanks for everyones kind replies. I appreciate it.

Good for you! Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. I hope you find more snakes to handle. It really is relaxing.
