    RTB got out!

Our 5 foot red tail boa got out of his cage last night, he ate about 1 1/2 weeks ago. He took a large doody and he is gone. We have set a trap of dead bloody mice in his cage to hopefully attract him back to his cage, but does anyone have anymore advice on how to find him? We have looked EVERYWHERE! He has gotten out before but thankfully we found him, but we are afraid we won't find him or he will somehow get outside and be gone. What should we do?

Keep looking. Check dark, warm areas first. His size may help you this time around, because there will be spaces he is just too big to squeeze into now. If you have any other pets, keep them somewhere you know a snake couldnt get to....ie, "clear" a room and keep them in there.

sprinkle some flower around the edges of the rooms and in the doorways. if he moves you'll see where he went. you only have to do it on the edges because animals will not cross a huge space, much like when you see mice in your house (if you've ever had them) they just run along the wall. good luck. don't forget to check in all your drawers and hampers.

    Re: RTB got out!

I have had my RTB escape twice... Both times he was found in the highest place he was able to access, once he was in the top shelf of a closet, and the second time he was on top of my 7 foot chameleon cage rack, luckily lights were off so there were no burns from heat lamps.

    Re: RTB got out!

thanks everyone! I hope that we can find him tonight. I don't know what we will do if we never see him again. I just hope he is ok and not hurt or outside in the cold. I'm not gonna sleep tonight until i find him. I unfortunatly had to go to work this morning and im still here so i couldn't keep searching. I will keep everyone updated, and thanks so much for the responses!
