4th week no eating

My king snake is only 6 months old. For the past 4 weeks it has not eaten. I don't know what is wrong. I have quite holding it, checked everything in tank but nothing is wrong or off.

Any ideas?

I am not a king snake person, but ball pythons stop eating when they are stressed. Check out a care guide, and make sure your husbandry practices are on par first; for example, heat, humidity, and a secure hide. Once you are sure your setup is correct, we can start trying new methods.

Yep all that is good. I have everything the care sheet says to do. The heat and humidity are good too, just checked again.

Kings will go off their prey for no apparent reason, especially this time of the year. I have had my Kings go off prey items for months at a time and they then start back up again and this is with the temps and lights staying on the same cycle all year.

Give it a good break between offering food, imitate a burrow, braining the prey item, there's loads of methods to get them feeding but four weeks isn't really anything to worry about. If it starts losing weight then you worry.

dont worry... i got an adult albino nelson, 2 years 4 mths old, been keeping her since a baby. at this time of the year.. nov-dec. she tends to not eat. maybe mating season, but i dont want to breed her. she's just a pet.

when i offer her food, she eat p/k mice. she'll just play around with it. pushing it here & there.. dont worry. as fergie say, if it start losing weight.. then worry.

some time too much trying is no good. trying skipping a week or two. then try again.. Happy New Year!!!

thank you fergie and ed. This is my first king snake and i just wanted to make sure everythign was all right. I only feed once a week. I will wait 2 weeks for next feed. The snake is growing great, a shed every couple weeks. I'm glad it is nothing to worry about.

How much are you feeding weekly?

What size prey are you feeding?

Sometimes smaller prey items go unnoticed as they grow larger. In the fall/winter as day light shortens, snake near windows, or in view of windows, will take their cues from the outside environment. This is their normal time of year to slow down and conserve energy for spring. Even without the outside stimulus, we still have changes in barometric pressure that tell them anyway. It is just their instinct. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

alot of snakes go off feeding during breeding season, dont worry snakes can go off feed for months and be just fine, just follow your normal feeding schedule and keep an eye on it.
