    Re: granite questions

Just because a snake has a granite pattern doesn't mean that you'll be able to easily produce more of the same. It is one of those things that, in my opinion, HAS to be proven to be sold as a genetic granite (unless they are listed as 'possible').

I don't consider my granite looking male to be the result of a simple single gene. None of his offspring ever looked quite like him - a few got dark, and a few had speckled patterns, but never quite both. Here he is with a couple of his daughters, which I sold for $80 each. Like I said, though, I don't consider these genetic granites, but the male has a much more obvious granite pattern than some of the other pics posted.

The top left snake is the male, the others his daughters. He is not in shed in these pictures, but the bottom daughter in the first pic is.

I try All of the babies come out evil as sin, it's fun to be bitten. The mom is a sweety unless mice or any other food source is involved.

It's been awesome getting to see the YB Granites grow up. I kept one and gave one to SarahMB. They are just gorgeous and orange as all get out. I'll have to get some updated pictures and post them.

It is true that not every BP with a speckling is a genetic granite. It has to be proven. I know that mine is because of her father, but otherwise I would not know. However, speckling (a little or a lot), the break in the neck stripe, and the clear belly are markers for genetic granites.

Nagini, I don't have pics of my collection yet (waiting for my brother to return to FL. to take some professional pics), but I think I have the ones that the seller sent me. I'll try to dig those up.

I have not figured out how to post a pic up here, so here's the link to my album...lol.

She is not spectacular by any means, but she has all the markers. Her sister had all except the break in the neck stripe, but she had heavier speckling. I included a picture of dad (who is a pretty nice looking Granite).

I remember seeing a pic of a super granite, but I can't for the life of me find it again! It's definately out there, though!
