1st time breeding question?
Ok I have a 2.5 yr. old female weighing about 1400g, and a 1.5 yr. old male weighing about 600g. This is my first time breeding and I'm just introducing the two to try and start them locking up. They have both been cooled. I put them together and my male is just wandering around checking out the cage and my female is just wedged up near her water dish. She shows absolutely no signs of interest. I leave them in there together the entire DAY and nothing changes. She stays wedged up and he just wanders about a little bit. Anything I should try different? Any tips to help them get used to each other? Please help!

You may need to insert the hemipenis for him.....JUST KIDDING!!! Give them time and see what happens. Not all the pairs we put together breed, it's usually the ones we are the most excited about that don't like each other!

You said you left them in all day? Does that mean you seperate them at night? If so I would leave them for a couple days and if nothing then seperate, but definately keep them together for more than a day.

Put them together during a low pressure system during a rain or snow storm. That's when I have the best luck for locks. I usually keep mine together for three days or until I see a good lock. Once you do notice a lock and they separate, put them back in their individual cages. Wait for the female to shed, and then reintroduce them. Repeat until the female ovulates. Once she ovulates, there is no reason to put the male back in with her. Oh, and this would be a good time to start up the incubator...
Good luck!

Re: 1st time breeding question?
yeah, i left them together all day. I decided to keep them both together overnight. I woke up this morning and they are TOGETHER, but i can't tell a definite lock. Also I'm not sure if they are just sharing the UTH either.
