Rack ?
So i am going to build a rack for a friend, and a i have a few questions. what happens for the 12 hour light cycle? also would flex watt under half of the tub keep it warm? I have never seen BP's in tubs and would have some concerns about them living in it forever? are racks only for breeders or do people have them for pets?

I am not a breeder and I keep mine in a rack. It makes my life easier and takes up less space then having three tanks. Ball pythons tend to do well in racks of appropriately sized tubs. If you use the right material for your rack that has good insulation properties then you shouldn't need flexwatt for half the tub. It also depends on the ambient temperatures of your room. My apartment has free heat, so I keep the temps in the mid to upper 70s.
Humidity is also less of a concern in racks.
As far as the light Cycle goes, just put a lamp in the room of the racks on a timer. The ambient light of room will be good enough for them.

Re: Rack ?
I think that most people who only own 1-2 snakes keep them in some sort of aquirium/tank. But there are many people who do keep their pet snakes in racks. I kept my male normal in a rack along with the rest of my morphs with no intentions on ever breeding him. Ball pythons that are in the wild spend 99percent of their life on the ground in small dens, and mounds. Hope this helps
