    Lost one yesterday

    well my colony has been doin good now for about 3 months. i had 1 male and 3 females all producing for me then randomly my biggest female just squealed really high pitch. by the time i got down stairs she was laying on her side dead. don't know why.

    now the aftermath. the fuzzies she was nursing are all dying too. probably from starvation. sucks.

    if you have mouse nursing you can put them with her .

    mouse would eat them(most likely) I do it the other way around asf's nurse my mice after mom starts chewing on them.the other females should nurse them in the group.if I have too many on a female I spread them out.

    I have 9 ASF with my nursing mices in two different groups without any problems.

    also remember that ASF have very little scent hard for mice to tell the different . I tried this with many different rodent . hamster with mice not a chance mice with hamster yes but must mix pinkies in substrate first . Sometime depends on the mices and age of the group .

    well two of the fuzzies appear to be be surviving, no thanx to the other females in the tank. they all look prego though so i hope the don't kill of the two young ones when theirs are born. normaly they all help with nursing but not this time. maybe the female that died was sick and they can tell that maybe the babies have it too. i don't know. it's a headache. but fun to watch them adapt to the situation and let it take it's course.
