For both breeders and buyers alike

Although I'm not new to breeding snakes I am fairly new to the BP world(first full year). I just wanted to kinda get a thought from both breeder and buyer views on what you consider a fair gaurantee for a Bp sale. Then what would be the fair fix if a problem would arise. Also what would be the longest you as the breeder would feel abligated to the health of the animal you sold. Thanks in advance guys. This will be a great tool in mine and hopefully other future in this hobby

I guarantee live over night. I think that if the animal has health issues due to a condition that is traced back to the breeder (i.e. internal parasites in that animal only) and you only had it 3 weeks. Then the breeder needs to step up. But if the animal dies after months of you owning it then that's on the owner.

To say what is fair depends on the circumstances surrounding the issue.

Personally, a live over night guarantee, and for a couple days to maybe a week is preferable... that is of course, depending on what it was that causes the death of an animal...

I guess all you can guarentee is sex, genetics, and health. You also have to have set policies for healthy shipping and arrival, and customer satisfaction. Some of the bigger guys may want to chime in on the live guarentee after arrival. I have saw some breeders say 7 days. That would be hard not knowing what kind of enviroment they are going to.

Re: For both breeders and buyers alike

my gurantees are live arrival, feeding well. 100% healthy. guaranteed het (if it is/has hets)

the hets business is where it gets interesting, if i buy a snake from job bloggs, guaranteed het clown female for instance. i breed her to my male clown 3 years in a row and no clowns. its gets traced back to him. and i end up wasting money on a het clown. and i get very angry at joe bloggs.

if you ask me hets are the most important thing to guarantee after healthy and feeding.

Yes Hets I've had experience with boa rtb and bloods that would have to be a given. I'm kinda ask in the hopes that what if I sell to Adam and in a month the animal I sold him dies unprovoked(at least by his words). What if any fault is my burden to carry. I mean I want to be a good guy but if I do am I opening myself to be walked on in the future.

Re: For both breeders and buyers alike

I second the Het guarantee as being a more value added one.

On the discussion of guaranteeing something in your TOS a lawyer will tell you it's complicated. Really guaranteeing live arrival and genetics is all people "can" do since they can't guarantee the enviornment after the animal arrives.....they can try to guarantee the animal after arrival but there are alot of variables outside of their care. They are basically guranteeing the customer's treatment and care of the animal by the owner....something they have no control over.

Also in writing up TOSs, I'd suggest putting something in there about DOAs and verifying the animals. I read a series of posts on fauna about claiming DOAs and sending back crappy pics or saying they threw the animal out. Sure enough the animal was actually still alive and it was a scam. Something to watch out for and keep in your TOS to avoid such a situation. (e.g. no refunds without a returned corpse etc.)

    Somethings I struggle with too

    Hope that helps!

I will demand that any "DOA", I be immediately notified and the animal be returned by overnight shipping that day at my expense. Any delay in either voids your right to a refund. You wait 2 days to tell me it was DOA. your SOL. you ship it back tomorrow. No refund period end of story.
