    That's when I start counting and then try to predict when I will need more babies a certain size and set up paris accordingly. Their break wouldn't actually start till they stop nursing.

    You need to make sure you remove the male before the pups are born to ensure she does get a vacation and not a back to back pregnacy.

    But I assume most of us are counting vacation days as days after the litter is weaned when mom isn't pregnant and isn't nursing so she can really rest.

    If you decided to give your females vacations try to time it so that they will have another female for company. They can get a little loopy without friends.
