Yay me.. I learned something today

I took Violet to the vets today, just for a check up. i didn't have a fresh poop but I figured thats ok, the vet can do a swab for some. Well the vet couldn't get any, as Violet had just did a BIG poop about a week ago that musta cleaned her out good. lol

the vet loved how she looked and how easy it was to handle her. She also loved her colors. (she is a very pretty normal) So next time she or one of the others goes I'm going to drop it off.

I worry about parasites as I feed live, their poops always look good-if poop can look good? lol it's just time for a fecal. I also got some dewormer for the rats, pretty cheap too, dewormed my breeders and 3 younger hold backs (8 rats total) for less then 20 dollars. (that includes the 2nd dose i have to give 1o days from today) She told me it's hard to get rid of ALL of them, which I knew as dogs/cats are the same way, worms get passed down from lactating moms. But for less then 20 dollars, it was worth it for me as my breeders are also my pets. My vet didn't even charge me for the cloacal swab. SCORE!! hehehe

anyway.. as for the learning something new.. I have seen many probing videos but I NEEDED to see it in person. I didn't want to chance doing it on my own for the first time and hurting my snakes.

My vet was more than happy to take the time to show me and I'm quite sure I now have the confidence to do it myself YAY GO ME! LOL

Glad you have a helpful vet. You can never learn too much, right?

Congrats! I share the same views as you...I'd never try popping/probing my snake just based off the videos on youtube, etc. I want a professional to show me how its done so that I don't hurt my little girl! And score on the free swab!!!
