As you all know I just got a new amazon. I was just wondering does your stay up on a perch all the time. Mine spends most of his time on the bottom behind his tree in the shadows. Any ideas?

I know nothing about them I'm afraid.

Could it be a security thing? Is he in a high traffic area or anything?

When you say "Just got him" how long have you had him - might help people who know what their talking about answer you.

Also pics of his environment might also help them if possible?

my GTP spends most of his days on the ground. he only perches at night. this is normal for him though. i would just leave him alone, and watch him. maybe he likes it better on the ground. if he is eating and doing business then he's ok.

is this only during the day or at night?

My ATB spends a good amount of time on the ground, especially during the day. He chills back in a corner behind a bowl and fake leaves.

My amazon stays perched up all the time. What are his perching areas like? They dont perch like gtp's or emeralds. They prefer forked type perches where they can rest, amazon's likes to have contact on at least 3 points of its body. What I mean is they prefer a forked branch or crook versus one horizontal perch. Otherwise maybe try and put some foliage up higher in the enclosure around the "perching area's". Hope this helps!

Put a couple sticks diaganal at about 45degrees then put a couple up top paralel that criss cross. And put some big leafed plastic plants at the top where they can hide.
