How many meals before a poop?
I was just curious. I've had my BP for almost 2 months now. and she has pooped once after her first meal with me. She is on her 2nd meal since the last poop and shed, and going on her third meal on Monday.
I was just wondering how many meals you guys have given your BP/s before that releive themselves. I guess when it comes down to it I dont want her to pop cuz she cant go.
I was feeding her Small Adult mice once every 7 days. She has taken her first full size adult f/t 2 days ago. I fed her after 5 days this time around, seeing how after the 5th or 6th day she seems to be searching her home for a meal. She is a cpl months old now. 18.5 inches long and about 105gm. (she was about 88gm and 17 inches long when she first came home)
thanks for the feedback!

Re: How many meals before a poop?
I only know for my snake it usually takes about a week or so from feeding to poop.

Re: How many meals before a poop?
Depends on your snakes metabolism and how much you're feeding the snake. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you are feeding appropriately sized meals. I have snakes that hold it in for much longer than others; and you WILL know when they're ready to pop. I'm sure someone has a picture of a snake thats ready to "blow" out there.

It's totally individual to the snake. One of my albino females barely EVER goes to the bathroom, I love her for this. Two of my cinnies, however, relieve themselves all the time (or so it seems). So don't sweat it.

Yeah, when I first got mine, she had pretty much the same stats as your's as well as feeding schedule, and had bowel movements even less often. But would always eat and always happy to come out and never looked bloated.

Mine all wait till I clean their cages...LOL
Ideally, I feed mine every five days. If they eat when offered food, they poo about once a week. If they eat less, they poo less often or when they have a couple meals in them.

What is your hot spot temperature? Your snake uses the heat to help with digestion and if your temperature is low it will slow things down.

Re: How many meals before a poop?
The longest I've had one of mine go is 3 feedings before defecating--the ones that go into shed will often store everything up, and then defecate right after shedding.
Most defecate once a week, a couple days before food time.

Re: How many meals before a poop?
It depends from snake to snake, like somebody mentioned and they do need proper heating temperatures to properly digest their food although by nature, their body temperature slightly increases during digestion, and this is when mine tends to frequently thermoregulate (moving from cold side to warm side). You can always give them a warm soak for a few minutes which always helps pop things out a bit. But normally the day before poop time, they look like they're about to "pop" right at the tip before their tail. I'm sure everything's fine. It's when they don't poop for a while that you should be concerned. Good luck
