Post feeding behavior

So I had my first successful feeding of my BP tonight
Long story short he got the mouse down and was tucked into the back of his hot hide (88F)
When I came back a few hours later and peeked into the tank he I couldnt see him and was worried that he had somehow escaped.
Anyways I found him on the cool side between his log and the tank. Cool side is ~80F.
Seems odd that he would be on the cool side AND not under cover (though there are some jungle vines that provide a little cover).

Im assuming that he knows what his body needs and if it wasnt warm enough he would head over to the warm side, correct?

If your snake wants to be warm, it'll go on the warm side.

Currently my breeder females are on the cool side 90% of the time, even after eating multiple rats. They will be on the warm side for a few hours about a day after feeding. My males are still seeking warm.
