    heat tape advice

Can someone give me some advice on installing and using heat tape? I really dont even know where to begin, but any information would be helpful. Can I just run one long piece along the backside of the rack or does the tape need to be under the tub?

Im currently using heat cable but it seems like it develops hot spots and its such a pain in the ass to run through all the little holes in my vision rack

    Thanks
    Al

    Re: heat tape advice

    Hi Al,

Heat tape is pretty easy to install once you get get the gist of it. I wouldn't recommend installing one long piece of heat tape in the back except for hatchlings. Larger cages and snakes need more direct heat. I found out the hard way when I made my first large rack and ended up placing heat tape on each shelf.

Here's a PDF on how to install Flexwatt in a parallel configuration... the most common method on racks.

    Good luck!
