    Burm question

Hi all, hope your weekend is going well.

What would i be looking at to feed one adult burm a month?

Also would one "hide" as much my ball pythons do?

    Thank you

    Re: Burm question

If it's a decent sized adult, anywhere from 2 to 3 rabbits a month. As far as hiding, not really. Once they get so big, I quit using hides.

Omg I love normals too!(your siggy) And no hiding isnt an issue cause they arn't really shy like Ball pythons.

Thats good that I would actually be able to view it at some point, Whats the best way to go about getting 3 rabbits a month? I think they are $40 each in the pet store...

    Re: Burm question

Depends on the age, length and size.

You're 16 foot 150 pound burm will be eating some 15-20 pound pigs, or multiple rabbits, about twice a month.

A 10 foot 50 pound burm will be eating 5-10 pounds rabbits/pigs about twice a month.

Age is a big factor too. Older they get, the slower their metabolism is. If that 16 foot 150 pound burm is 10 years old, you may only have to feed it once a month.

They will hide if you can provide them with one. A lot of times you will not seem them hiding because who has a big hide in their animal plastics cage for a 10'+ burm? Give them a big cage and some hiding spots and they will hide. Now, as much as ball pythons? No. Ball pythons live in burrows dug up by other animals in the wild. They constantly hide.

A buddy of mine gets his rabbits at Livestock Auctions very cheap. Look for a nearby one.

    Re: Burm question

okay thanks RKO, just trying to get a long term food source into works for what one burm would need without going broke.

$30 a month for my 3 ball pythons already & I anticipate more with a burm.

I have alot of free time for these snakes, but breeding my own food for them like rabbits would not be an option at this point.

I hear people feed them chickens? That might be cost effective as well. I will keep looking to finding that loophole to make this possible.

    Re: Burm question

Some people will feed things suck as chickens and quail every once in a while. I hear it cleans out their digestive system or something like that.
