    Suddenly swollen

My male 1.5 year old ball python is bloated today. He just ate 2 days ago and has been drinking, shedding normally. Temps and humidity are within ideal limits. Today I took him out and he was swollen and round in the latter 1/2 of his body. It feels like squishy, fluid edema. He has a doctor's appointment tomorrow but I was wondering if any of you guys have had a problem like this before. He just had a vet appointment approx 2 weeks ago, stool was negative of any parasites, no blood work though.

    Re: Suddenly swollen

    Hi,

Have you tried a warm water bath? ( aim for about 86f and only just over half way up his sides in depth) - sometimes that can help get them to release.

Do you think it is urine or feces? I have not tried the water bath.

    Hi,

I was thinking urine since you say it came on suddenly - but more importantly what did the vet think?

    Re: Suddenly swollen

The vet did an ultrasound and said that he is too fat, gassy, and full o' pee. So we're going to cut him down to feeding every two weeks, get him out and exercising more. Don't know about the gas though, maybe beano?
