Re: Trying to escape?
They just do that, i'm sure it varies a bit from BP to BP but they will try to escape all the time.

Re: Trying to escape?
at night usually when I'm up for some odd reason I've always been noctournal too so I see him in his normal operating times. I'll also handle him any time day or night and put him back in and he'll try to get out or not let me put him back. I walked buy today and some how he managed to turn one of his hides upside down and they're not little hides by any means.

Re: Trying to escape?
If you're seeing it all the time, then he's stressed out and you should examine the enclosure to see where you can improve on his sense of security. Usually temps aren't correct, or hides aren't small and snug as a couple of examples. If it's only nocturnal behavior, I wouldn't be too concerned. If it's all the time, I would be concerned. A relaxed ball python will be happily camping out in its hide during the day.

Re: Trying to escape?
Ok good to know. One more quick question and I really would like a speedy response with this one. tomorrow we're going to the vet for his first check up but today is feeding day...should I feed him or will he likely be to streesed with a vet poking at him with a belly full of mouse?

Re: Trying to escape?
Timmy, I'd skip the feeding. You really don't want a snake with a belly full of digesting prey being taken out for a car ride, temps all over the place, then examined by the vet. It won't harm any healthy snake to have to wait a few days for it's feeding.

Re: Trying to escape?
Before about a week ago I would rarely see my little girl out and about, even at night. I think she finally is getting settled from the FL-MI road trip, since now almost every night she comes out to explore, get a drink, and of course she tries to escape. Then in the morning when I get up and turn the lights on she knows it's time to go back in her hide to sleep for the rest day.
