    Question Mites?

Do they look like little specks of dandruff?

their droppings do from what i've read. but no, they look like little black balls... they're definitely very visible to the naked eye. like a tiny spider or a spider mite.

    Re: Mites?

So the mites are crapping on my snake too. Well, at least I know what the white spots are... I hope that can of provent-a-mite gets here soon. They didn't give me an option to pay for a quicker shipping method, which sucks. What should I do when it gets here?

    Re: Mites?

First soak your snake in a bowl of water with one or two drops of dish soap. While the snake is doing that clean all of the things in the cage with a bleach/water solution and then return them to the cage, spray the entire enclosure with Provent-A-Mite (except the water bowl) and put down paper towels in the enclosure as a temporary substrate, then put your snake back in its cage and regularly check to see if you notice anymore mites crawling around.

    Hope that helps

    Re: Mites?

Thanks! Should the water cover the snake, or go halfway up its body?

Just enough to cover the whole body so that all areas of its body are being soaked for best results.

You won't have to worry about that because the snake will always instinctually keep its head out of the water.
