what kinda hides do u use in your shoebox tubs

im currently using ceramic flower pot saucers that ive cut a section out for entry and exit but even the smaller ones are a bit wide for the 6 quart shoe box tubs so i figured id ask what diy hides you use i am aware of the hides that are manufactured but im looking for lower priced ones as i have alot of babies in the hatchling racks

Reptile basics makes some awesome hides for 6qt tubs. They're made to fit perfectly in the tub. They are the "mini" hides. They're not very expensive either $3.99 ea and if you order more than 10 they're 3.59 ea. I use them for my baby corns and they work awesome.

Re: what kinda hides do u use in your shoebox tubs

Got that beat. How's 50 cents (or less if they are on sale) a hide sound LOL. I just buy the small plastic plant saucers from Home Depot - I personally like the green ones. Then a few seconds using my handy, dandy saudering wand and bingo a nice rooftop entrance. One fits perfectly on the warm end of a 6 qt shoebox tub. Here's an example....

I use deli cups intended for shipping... turn them upside down and cut a door in the side. I bought a box of them a while back and I'm sure they're less than 50 cents a piece so I guess I have Jo beat.

Re: what kinda hides do u use in your shoebox tubs

I've been using the same ones Jo uses for a few years now. I just cut a little square hole in the side instead of in the top. They fit perfect in a 6qt tub and are under 50 cents apiece. I'm not about to spend around $4 per hide when they aren't going to use them for long. Plus the saucers are lower to the ground Makes for happy, lurking babies.

    I use these.

They are hollow underneath so they do double duty.
