I checked "other", because I use either red or "black" incandescent bulbs, with a dimmer- very low output, never any issues & long-lived healthy snakes with no apparent stress. I'm not sure what the "blue-aka Night Glo" is...maybe the same as a "black" bulb? The black bulbs give off a bluish/purplish glow, fyi. I don't use night-lights for all my snakes, only for specific ones that seem to like & do better with it, & currently do not keep any BPs, fyi. These lights add warmth but are never the sole source of their heat.

    2008?

Times have changed far too much for me to answer such an old poll.

In my snake room I live in the here and now with remote controlled LED bulbs that can be any number of colors. I have a three bulb lamp in the corner of my snake room with a two bulbs on a timer. I like one of the darker blues as it gives the most night like feel IMHO. These bulbs can be bought cheap on Amazon.

Now if heat is needed I like the blue the most for appearance but I swear they burn out twice as fast so I stick with red.

Well someone else DID answer it today, which is why it popped up & caught my eye, as well as yours. Things have changed, sure, but it's still a relevant topic- I'm glad you responded also.

I was just poking fun at a thread from the dead.

I will add it is much easier to have one multibulb floor lamp in a snake room for a tad of getting around light than a light for each cage. My two bulbs just give off enough light that they can see a bit while exploring and I can check on them at night without disturbing the room much.
