Re: flukers analog hygrometer
I have never used one but I wouldnt trust it, those things are cheaply made and also I dont trust most things that say Flukers on it...
If your unsure you can get an accurite digital with probe at wal-mart for $12...
Do you have condensation on the tubs? Make sure your water dish isnt too big and make sure its on the cool side of the tub

Re: flukers analog hygrometer
I dont think I can get any smaller than the 4oz ramekin dishes, which are on the cool side of the tub. I have put lots of vent holes on all sides, and I still get condensation on the front of the tubs.. I do have 1 accurite in a middle tub which either reads in the 80's or hi. how about the flukers digital without a probe, would that work for each individual tub to give me at a glance readings of humidity in each tub? I am curious as to the humidity varies from tub to tub. thanx for the reply. I was starting to get a complex.

What i would do first is to take one of those flukers hygrometers and put it in the same tub as the accurite and compare the two readings just to see how accurate it is... If its the same as the reading on the accurite I would use them...
What type of substrate are you using?

Re: flukers analog hygrometer
I don't know what it is about the question of humidity, but I posted a similar question and did not get much of a response either. I ended up putting lots of holes in my tubs and also in the lids of my tubs. And it helped a little but I think according to what most believe to be a proper humidity level mine are still a little high. I was also wondering what was to much humidity, and what are the possible dangers.???

I'll try to flukers analog hygro's and see what happens.
I'm using aspen as its relatively cheap and easy for me to find around here.

high humidity is only good during the shed cycle, but for everyday, it can lead to mold growing in the tub, and inside your snakes lung (if I remember reading this correctly).

Ok I just wanted to make sure you didnt have moist bedding. If I were you I would go crazy with the holes then, to tell you the truth I like to drill holes more that use a soldering iron on them, You can put 1/4 holes in a tub with out worry of escaping snakes. Im not sure how big the holes you have are but it sounds to me like there isnt enough air moving there..
Also try placing a fan in the room, air circulation will reduce the humidity...

thanx.. I'll try putting some more holes and using a small fan to circulate air..
