    Rat Mix?

Wasn't there a post about Becky's rat mix? It had a list of ingredients. I need that list so I can go to the store and get them. I have made this mix before and can't remember everything that is in it.

Also, is a bean soup mix ok? I found this bag of mixed dry beans for use in bean soup. I was wondering if this is ok to give the rats (it is a mix of like a dozen different dry beans). I ask because I went looking for info on rat diets and this site

...said not to feed them raw beans.

Yep, dont feed them raw beans. I remember answering this questions before, I can't really remember the reason not to. I think it has something to do with their digestion juices lol

Here are the posts on the mix:

Only lentils and green peas are ok...no beans. High 'gassy' foods aren't good for rats.

Okay, not that yahoo is all that scientific, this is the only source I've found that talks about why not to feed it to them.

green potato skin and eyes (contains a toxin)
    wild insects
    raw bulk tofu
    mouldy Cheese
    liquorice (suspicions of neurological poisoning)
raw red cabbage (contains anti-nutrients that destroys thiamin)

    Re: Rat Mix?

Thanks for the info. Beans are out. My rats don't like the lentils and peas though. They always leave them behind.

Roasted, unsalted, in-shell peanuts are a definite GO though They love them.
