    Acurite thermometer question

Does the probe on an acurite thermometer/hygrometer measure humidity from the probe or through the unit itself?

Ummm, why don't you put the unit inside the tub?

Ah yes; there is that!! However, you need to get a feel for the humidity inside the tub and so a sacrifice to the pee and poo gods needs to be made!!

I used to have one in every tub until I wanted to be like Kara and be able to 'feel' the correct humidity. Now I have one Acurite in one tub and play the 'How close to accurate humidity can I guess' game. I'm getting pretty good!!

And then there are those that go out of their way to knock the darn thing over so you can't read it. Like my pastel...

There are hygrometers with probes, though. ExoTerra makes one that I use in my smaller tubs. Works pretty well, too...except when your biggest female decides she needs to drag the probe into the water dish.
And that is why it's good to pick up extras of eq!

Our 5.5ft Dumeril Boa dragged one into her water bowl. Submerged for the whole day. Dead when I removed it , but after it dried for a couple of days I put in a new battery and it worked!! This is not a recommended test.

I've had this happen too! My bigger male, Merlin, is always putting his in the water bowl. After a few days drying out, it's still working like the others.
