    file compression with Winzip

    Ok so I have like 100 megs of pictures that I need to send to someone....how can I get it to zip with more than 1% compression?

    Try to compress them into .rar files. I'm pretty sure that compresses them more than .zip files.

    Hi,

    Just remember that JPg's are a compressed format themselves so you really only have a small amout of extra shrinking possible if your using that or a similar format for the pictures.

    It might be worth looking at reducing the quality of the images if they do not need their current quality.

    You couls also look into somewhere like sendit.com or megaupload if it is impossible to compress to the extent you want.

    Doesn't make it any smaller for them to grab their end but avoids problems such as ftp storage space or email restrictions etc.

    Also splitting the rar files and using something like quickpar can be worth the overhead if there is a possible loss of data.

    Bulk upload to photobucket and send em a link to the album. Then they can download the ones they want...
