    Bella's Hot Weather Treat

Bella, our 18 month old yellow Lab, ADORES seedless watermelon. It's her favorite hot weather treat! The silly thing will sit there whining and pacing until you hold a wedge of watermelon for her to dig into. She got the idea really fast to only eat the red part. I'm amazed at how exact she can chew all of the red but never any of the white or the green rind.

Oddly enough she loves bananas too! LOL (she's a Labrador so I guess nothing is "odd" to eat for her )

I never thought of that, Doris. I may get some and freeze them for her. She's crazy about eating/playing with icecubes so frozen seedless green grapes might go over really well with her and provide a cold treat on these hot summer days. Thanks for the idea!

I've heard your not supposed to give a lot of grapes because it can make them ill. But still, thats adorable, all of my dogs have never really been into fruit. They spit it out.

My roommate had a cat that would flip for cantaloupe. True story.

I'll check into that but she'd only be getting a few occasionally anyways.

I had a cat years ago that hated fish but was nuts for any meat off a pig. If you dared offer her a bit of fish (even lobster!) she'd curl her lips and make this "OHHHHH YUCK" face but gawd help you if you put out a nice pork roast - you had to lock her out of the kitchen. LOL

Diamond LOVES honeydew melon. Whenever I'm cutting one up into cubes for snacking on at work, she sits patiently waiting for me to share some with her. She doesn't care for canteloupe, but she adores honeydew!

lol, I wouldn't give the whole bunch, but a handful of say 5 or 6 is fine. My dog would sit and whine until she got some. And she loved salad.. with all the trimmings.. cukes, tomatoes, celery, carrots and the dressing..
