Maybe it was a F/T bunny and the stupid owner was using the blankie to warm it up...it was warm and smelled of bunny.

The real question here is who had the smaller brain...the owner or the snake?

the blanket was probably IN the cage during feeding, and an irresponsible owner left it in there during feeding, and the python probably got the blanket caught in her mouth along with the rabbit. The burm probably just assumed it was a really large rabbit with a long tail

Well, with the things I have read today, I wouldn't be surprised if the owner, snake and bunny were cuddled in the blankie watching TV and eating pizza rolls.

Re: Thought you guys would get a kick outta this!!!!!

That actually happened here in Idaho. A little further south than me. The owner was using the Heating blanket to keep the snake warm. He had left the rabbit in the cage (I think it may have been live) then somehow the blanket got caught up with the rabbit and the snake swallowed it. If I remember right he didn't actually realize the snake had swallowed it until the next day.

Very poor husbandry practices, at least the snake was taken the to vet though.
She did live from the surgery and made a full recovery last I had heard.

Oh most definitely! There are many reptile safe ways to heat an enclosure. There are reasons heating blankets are made for PEOPLE.
Supposedly he used the the snake for educational purposes, when all a long he should have been educating himself on how to properly house and heat the animal!
