    Unhappy RIP Buddy

Went to check on him today...found him in a perfect coil, dead. He was my buddy, the sweetest guy ever. I knew I should've taken him to the vet with his not eating for 6 weeks, and runny yellow poo. You guys said it was normal...that it was his urate. I'm not blaming this forum at all...its my fault...I should've taken him to the vet!

    RIP Buddy 6-8-08

    Sorry for your loss..
Runny and Yellow does sound like a urate...and all we can ever go on is your words... which is probably why you got the advice that you did.

I hope you won't give up on ball pythons over this incident. You know what they say about horses..and falling...and stuff

    Re: RIP Buddy

I am so sorry that your snake has died. This is thread that you posted and to which I responded: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=68317
The only thing that I can say is that I responded honestly and accurately given my experience with being pee'd and poo'd on by my snakes.
It is not uncommon for snakes to not eat from time to time. You did not have a scale and so could not tell how much weight was lost. It is so important to keep good records, including weight records.
You then went down the list of common signs of illness and said that all seemed good; meaning negative for obvious signs of illness.
It is really important, and is said all the time, that when in doubt, seek out the advice of a qualified herp vet. No one on this forum is a vet and we can only give out the very best advice in the spirit of helpfulness. I was doing just that.
I feel terrible that I did not tell you to run to the vet. I don't know what I would have said differently though and even if you had taken him to the vet the very next day, I'm uncertain as to whether it would have made a difference.
I am so sorry for your loss and I apologize if I unintentionally made your loss worse.

    Sorry for your loss.

As much as pets live, they also die.

I have lost a few beautiful snakes over the years, and it is never easy.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean for what I said to point blame at anyone, but myself. I was just trying to make the point that I had posted a few days ago about the problem. I don't post much but I read a lot of the posts here, and I see your replies to other peoples issues and I gotta say, you are an amazingl person. You have such a kind heart and are always willing to help. Thank you for that!

I know, dying is just a part of life... But it just kills me that I maybe could've done something about it, ya know?
