One of my New Year's resolutions was to get out in the field more this year and do some herping. I got the itch to make some finds today so I called my friend Curtis and we headed out to a few of his spots out in Hart & then to Meade County....We aimed to find some Corn Snakes, Copperheads and perhaps a Timber Rattlesnake if we got lucky....unfortunately we did not find any of our target species but we did find a good variety of herps nontheless.....a good day in my opinion!
It didn't take long to find this Black King (in shed)...
We found several Ringnecks throughout Hart Cty....
This freshly-shed juvenile Racer was found early in the AM...
A shy Box Turtle...
Fowler's Toad...
We came upon this large Racer basking.....he was pretty warmed up by now and he jetted off before we could catch him and get better pics...
At one point I looked down and these 2 lovebirds were on my hook lol...
This large Garter was found under a tarp...
We then headed to Meade county....got skunked in terms of snakes, but we did find this large adult Painted Turtle crossing the road...
This Bullfrog was found under a tarp also...
This mole was one of several rodents we saw under tin...
The only Salamander we saw was this Marbled...
The last find of the day was this Box Turtle crossing the road...
