    I need some insight.

I got my snake on monday. A ball python. Believed to be a little boy. He is aprox. 2 1/2 months old. I haven't handled him other that changing his water and he has everything he needs including perfect temps.. With the exception of a name.

Please don't tell me not to bother naming him, as he will be my only pet snake and there will be no breeding now nor ever. Another fourm told me to call him the snake cause thats all he'd ever be. I consider him part of my family and he needs a name, I just don't know where to start.

Here are some I have so far, any opinions would help.
    -Coop
    - Drake
    - Bagheera (the black leopard in Jungle Book)

    Thanks for your insight.

If you are going for the Jungle Book then why not Kaa? Lol, Sorry I can't really help. I am really bad at naming pets.

I though about Kaa but a friend got her snake recently named hers that before I did and I don't want to get all mixed up talking to her.

    Thanks though

Take your time and let the snake tell you....

I don't think anyone here would tell you not to name your snakes. These are special creatures and by all means deserve a name if the owner is willing to take the time to come up with one. I'm horrible at naming snakes so I often look for weird names from anceint civilizations and what not and hope something catches my eye.

    Drake is nice.

Mine receive the names of Africa cities, preferably from the region where they came from. So far, I have Accra (capital of Ghana) and Abuja (capital of Nigeria), both females.

    Re: I need some insight.

Yea I was a little peeved when I was told not to name him. I think that thosepoeple were breeders only in it for the money, because alot of them said that their snakes where only numbers.
    Thas sad.

I want to name him something that my two yr old neices can say because they love sitting and talking to him through the tank.
    Of course supervised.

I hope it comes to me.

    Re: I need some insight.

all mine have names but only a few have a meaning. my names are:
    Norm
    Lilly
    Abby
    Ham
    Trouser
    Lucius
    Seven

    Norm as is normal
Abby as is Abby Normal ( I'm a Mel Brooks fan)
Ham or H.a.m. is Het Albino Male
Trouser I dont think i need to explain that one
Seven is curently the seventh snake i got since i got back into the hobby a few years ago.

Lilly and Lucius my wife named.

I say its completly up to you if you wanna name your snake(s). To me they are my pets not an INCOME.

    Re: I need some insight.

My son names the ball pythons and he usually chooses anime characters; except for the albino and he calls her Queen Mum!

I named the boas and they are Zelda, Niah, and K'la. I had not planned for any of these names- they just presented themselves!
