To users of Johnsons Control
I just got this today - http://www.reptilebasics.com/Johnson...d-p-16178.html
I just wanted to make sure I am setting it up right. I set the Setpoint to 90. If I read the instructions right, that means that it will turn the UTH on should the temp dip below 90 and cut it off when it hits 90.
Is that correct or do I have it all wrong?
Thanks.

Re: To users of Johnsons Control
There are four functions when you go into the menu.
Set F/C depending on which you prefer. (Why isn't Kelvin an option?)
Set your Setpoint
Set your differential (this is degrees at which below the setpoint your thermostat will kick on, assuming you are in heating mode. It's the reverse for cooling).
Set H/C for heating or cooling mode (presumably you are heating).
If you are controlling the hot side of the enclosure then setting it at 90 with a 1 degree differential will make it turn on at 89 degrees and turn off at 90 degrees. Hope that helps,

You can always call Rich at RBI and ask him; he'll gladly walk you through it. RBI's customer service, even after the sale, is A++

Re: To users of Johnsons Control
OK so it looks like Rich already set everything up. The dif was 1 and it was set to heat and so on.
My only remaining question is this:
I have the JC probe and my Acurite probe in the same spot. There is a ~5 degree difference between the readings. The JC says it's 89 while the Accurite is 84.6. I suppose perhaps the Accurite is wrong because I ahve had it for a while?

My helix and my ranco are usually off by quite a bit, the ranco usually reads 4 degrees cooler than my helix. It would be best to use a temp gun www.tempgun.com to figure out which is correct.
Temp guns are a great piece of equipment to have.
