Where you have seen them before is great. They love wood piles, gardens around the house (I see them in mine all the time), rotten logs, and oak trees....

...I only say oak trees because I used to see large adults 15-20ft. up in oak trees in an area I herped in North LA. I don't know if they are like that everywhere.

They are usually all over though....any place with good cover, access to basking areas, and decent moisture (i.e. shrub gardens around the house).

I also suggest 'pulling up a seat'........find a place that you think they are....and sit for 10 minutes or so. Some hide before you even see them....so give them a chance to feel confortable and roam back out.

Well I did find one skink, but I didn't get a picture of it. Dang they are super fast!

I did find this though, which I thought I'd share.

Looks like a very productive trip for such a short time frame. I am not kidding about making a trip with you Daniel. I'll have to let you know when I get some free time, but a Friday afternoon in the next week or two would probably be great for me (that is if you can get off of work early on a Friday).

Thanks for the cool pics. I had a black racer like this in my kitchen a few weeks ago! It was just chillin by the fridge to my husbands dismay. I got him outside so he could go about his business OUTSIDE. haha About a week later he was by the front porch checking things out. All that excitement and not one picture!

Neat picture Christie! Stake out the nest and you might see a big ratsnake

Definately Tim! I have been trying to get access to another spot too, so hopefully that works out. I don't know about this Friday though....I will let you know.

Not necessarily this Friday, but Fridays are very easy for me to get away from the office right after lunch.
